As a PhD student and founder of the Academic IO, Nathan Price brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of organizational leadership and policy development. With his expertise in leadership development, strategic planning, and selection processes, he has helped numerous faculty and staff members across various educational institutions reach their full potential. But Nathan's true passion lies in addressing toxic and destructive leadership within higher education. Through his research, Nathan will deeply delve into the root causes of counterproductive behaviors among leaders in academia. By understanding these underlying factors, he aims to not only identify but also mitigate these harmful practices that can impede progress and growth within an organization. |
Henri T. Maindidze is an Applied Industrial/Organizational Psychology PhD student at Portland State University and currently works as a Junior Associate with Jernigan & Associates. He previously obtained a M.A. in Psychology from SUNY Albany, a B.A. in Psychology from UMBC with an I/O Psychology Certificate and a Human Services Concentration, and an A.A. in the Social Sciences from Montgomery College. His main areas of scholarly expertise include the intersections between recruitment, selection, training, and DEI. Maindidze has several years of academic and applied experience leading research teams, executing multi-year research projects, providing analytical support, supporting undergraduate Psychology and Statistics classes, mentoring students, interacting with stakeholders, and driving and facilitating effective evidence-based strategic planning.
He is an active member of BIOP as a member of the Conference Programming Subcommittee for the second consecutive year, is a Student Affiliate of SIOP, previously reviewed proposal submissions for the SIOP 2024 Conference, and is a Student Member of the Association for Psychological Science (APS). He has previously presented research at the SIOP 2024 Conference in Chicago, IL, the APS 2023 Conference in Washington, DC, and UMBC’s research conference in 2021 in Catonsville, MD. Maindidze’s passion for mentorship has seen him advise graduate school applicants as they develop their personal statements, review resumes, and provide career development advice, among other activities. He has been featured in UMBC News, Montgomery College TV, on various podcasts, and in UMBC-Shady Grove recruitment materials.
Cyntoya is an experienced clinical supervisor, coach, entrepreneur, consultant, and therapist with extensive knowledge of mental health. After 18 years in the mental health field, Cyntoya now focuses on employee wellness, organizational development, and consulting. As a supervisor, Cyntoya has supported others with developing intrinsic goals and the best methods to assist clients. During her practicum, she partnered with executives to implement proposals supporting the organization and its customers. She especially enjoyed combining organizational change models to create new initiatives. Cyntoya also serves as a graduate teacher assistant and business mentor for rehabilitation providers. | Caraline S. Malloy is a Ph.D. student in the Industrial-Organizational (I/O) Psychology program at Baruch College and The Graduate Center of The City University of New York. She is a 2022 alumna of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she received her B.S. in Psychology, concentrating in Organizational Behavior. Caraline is a workplace researcher passionate about the impact of identity on decision-making, staffing, and leadership. She has experience co-evaluating pre-college STEM programs funded by the National Science Foundation and examining the validity of assessment and selection criteria for public safety officials. Beyond this, Caraline is a National Science Foundation honoree, the former Officer of Funding for all doctoral programs at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York, a published author, and an active volunteer of Blacks in I/O Psychology, Inc. since 2022. |
Shelby Davis is a third-year doctoral student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Colorado State University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tennessee State University and her Master’s degree in I-O Psychology from Western Kentucky University. Shelby’s research sits at the intersection of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Occupational Health Psychology (OHP), focusing on the work experiences of minoritized employees. She aims to develop interventions that foster inclusivity and mitigate occupational health risks. Additionally, she explores the dynamics and hazards of racial code-switching for Black employees in the workplace. Shelby is passionate about developing undergraduate minority researchers through mentoring, and in the fall of 2023, she spearheaded an HBCU recruitment initiative within the Mentoring Undergraduates to Graduate School Success (MUGSS) program. As VP of Advocacy for the Graduate Student Council and VP of the Graduate Students of Color Association, Shelby is committed to uplifting underrepresented voices in academia and beyond. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she enjoys serving her community, traveling, and spending time with family in her free time. Shelbyis honored to receive the BIOP Visibility and Innovation Scholarship and is excited to drive meaningful change in the field of I-O psychology. |
Lucia Nkem is a final-year PhD candidate in Applied Business Psychology-Consulting at The Chicago School. Her research encompasses change management, workforce digital transformation, personality assessment, psychometrics, employee performance, and diversity & inclusion (D&I). With a strong foundation in quantitative research design, Lucia excels in data analysis, research methodologies, and survey development, all aimed at deepening the understanding of workplace behavior. As a Certified Talent Assessor (CTA), she has effectively applied her expertise in personality assessment to drive organizational development and mentor emerging professionals. Recently, Lucia has served as a mentor to an organization dedicated to diversifying talent pipelines, where she has played a key role in helping underrepresented students connect with the workforce and advising them on pivotal career decisions. Currently, she is leading a project that designs and implements surveys to assess technology acceptance among remote workers, yielding critical insights that inform strategic workforce decisions. Her commitment to shaping the future of work has led her to author the SIOP Top 10 Work Trends 2023 and present at the 2024 SIOP Conference. Lucia continues to champion the visibility and inclusion of underrepresented groups in I/O psychology through her work with Blacks in I/O, where she strategically promotes BIOP via social media engagement. |
