About This Event

Have you ever wondered how psychology can be applied to the workplace? Industrial-Organizational (I/O) Psychology is the study of people at work — and it's one of the fastest-growing and highest-paying fields in the social sciences. In this session, we'll break down what I/O Psychology actually is, how it directly impacts Black communities and workplaces, and what you can do with a degree in this field. Whether you're figuring out your major or just exploring your options, this is the session for you.

What We'll Cover:

  • What is I/O Psychology?
  • How I/O impacts Black communities and workplaces
  • Career paths and what you can do with an I/O degree
  • Career stability and earning potential
  • A real look at what I/O professionals actually do day-to-day
You’ll also leave with a downloadable toolkit filled with practical tools, resources, and support materials to guide and support you throughout your I/O journey.

Presenters:

Elizabeth Jenkins

I am a talent and organizational development consultant who helps organizations translate people data into clear and actionable workforce decisions.

At Plante Moran, I collaborate with executive leadership and HR to strengthen how organizations select, develop, and retain top talent. My work focuses on leadership development, succession planning, team dynamics, and overall organizational enhancement. I use valid and reliable assessments to help internal and external clients make informed hiring, onboarding, and development decisions for their team and organization.

Before joining Plante Moran, I spent over five years as an independent consultant leading projects for various non-profit organizations. I worked directly with leadership and board members to deliver organizational assessments, strategic workforce planning, and program evaluation projects.

With a background in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology and nearly a decade of experience, I've honed my skills in applying both quantitative and qualitative research methods to tackle organizational challenges. I thrive on transforming complex data into actionable insights that enhance company culture, boost employee engagement, and facilitate the growth of leaders.
