Blacks in I/O Psychology

Are you passionate about making a difference in the I/O field? We are looking for committee volunteers! 

We are thrilled that you are interested in volunteering with our organization. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact in our community and help promote diversity and inclusion in the field of I/O Psychology.

We accept volunteer applications year-round, with quarterly application reviews and onboarding sessions. When necessary, we may review and assign volunteers outside of the quarterly schedule to ensure committees are consistently staffed and productive.  Submit your Application!

What is a Committee Volunteer?

Blacks in I/O committees are small groups of volunteers who help drive the mission, vision and goals of the non-profit organization. Committee leads and volunteers meet regularly to brainstorm, plan and execute the organization’s initiatives.

Volunteer Requirements

  1. Member of Blacks in I/O
  2. Ongoing ability to commit 2-5 hours per week to Blacks in I/O initiatives and/or meetings

Committees

Mentorship Committee

The Mentorship Committee is dedicated to fostering growth and development by pairing experienced mentors with individuals seeking guidance in their professional lives. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to continue building upon the solid foundation set for the program. Join us to help build a supportive community where everyone can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Ongoing Programming Committee

This committee will be responsible for developing programming for members throughout the year. Types of programming include fireside chats, webinars, networking events, and our annual conference and gala. Committee members will partner with other committees in coordinating events (e.g., the social media and communications committee will assist with marketing events).

Social Media, Marketing, & Communications

This committee will be responsible for maintaining all Blacks in I/O social media platforms. This will include working closely with other Blacks in IO team members to post relevant information including member spotlights, upcoming events, career development opportunities and relevant I/O content.

Annual Conference Committee

The Conference Committee plays a crucial role in organizing and executing our flagship event, bringing together industry leaders, academics and professionals. As a volunteer, you will be involved in various tasks such as planning sessions, coordinating logistics, managing registrations, and ensuring smooth event operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your organizational and leadership skills while contributing to a significant event in our community.
