FULL POSITION DESCRIPTIONS HERE Vice ChairThe Vice Chair carries out special assignments as requested by the chair and fills in for the Chair if necessary. Produces, coordinates, or delegates coordination of programs or events on behalf of Blacks in I/O. TreasurerThe Treasurer keeps track of the organization's financial condition and works with the Chair to lead the development of the annual budget. He or she must understand financial accounting for nonprofit organizations and ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the board on a timely basis. The treasurer also reviews the annual audit, and answers board member questions about the audit, and provides regular updates to the board about the annual audit and budget. Communications Chair - FILLEDThe Communications Committee Chair attends all board meetings and is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate meeting minutes. The communications chair will be responsible for fielding emails that come into the BIOP gmail account box. This role is well-suited for individuals aspiring to serve on the board in the future and seeking an opportunity for practical experience and skill development. Schedule

Nomination and Selection Information
Nominations are now open through November 24, 2023 at 11:59PM ET. Nominations:
Any BIOP member may nominate a candidate for the Board of Directors. Individuals should be nominated for their personal qualifications and commitment. Self nominations are permitted. Nomination Process: Nominations must be sent via the Google Form Document and be received during the nomination period. Nominations close on November 24, 2023 at 11:59pm eastern time. There will be a screening of each nominee to ensure they meet the criteria. Nominee Criteria:
Accepting Nominations: Nominees who pass the screening process will receive an email from Blacks in I/O to formally accept or decline their nomination. Nominations not accepted by the end of the nomination period will be considered withdrawn. All nominees must accept by November 29, 2023. Interview Process: Candidates are invited for 2 interviews. This interview, conducted a board member, aims to understand the candidate's background, skills, and motivations for joining the board. After the interview, board members individually score the candidate using the rating scale for each criterion. These scores are kept confidential until the final decision. The interview scores are then factored into the final decision. While the interview scores are an essential component, the board's votes also play a crucial role. The candidate with the highest combined score, considering both interview scores and board votes, is selected for the board position. Early Nominations are Strongly Encouraged! |
