Conference registration fees will not be reimbursed for cancellations. You have the option to seek a registration transfer to another person who can attend the conference in 2026, or allocate the fee towards your registration for the 2027 conference instead. Planning for Promotion & Progress: Setting Yourself up for Success in 2026

Mid-career professionals often deliver meaningful results but struggle to clearly articulate their impact in ways that resonate with senior leaders. This gap—between doing valuable work and demonstrating strategic value—can stall career progression into executive roles.

This workshop focuses on helping experienced professionals plan initiatives with impact in mind from the start, intentionally connecting individual contributions to team objectives and broader organizational strategy. Participants will learn how to define success early, align their work with what decision-makers value, and “celebrate wins” in a way that builds credibility rather than self-promotion.

Rather than focusing on basic project planning, the session emphasizes executive-level thinking: framing work in terms of outcomes, tradeoffs, and strategic value. Attendees will practice translating day-to-day efforts into compelling narratives of impact, strengthening their visibility, influence, and relationships with key stakeholders.

In this interactive session, Dr. Sy Islam and Dr. Mike Chetta will guide participants to be better equipped to demonstrate ROI in more than just economic terms, communicate impact with confidence, and position themselves as leaders who understand how work connects to results—an essential capability for moving into senior and executive roles or maintain successful client relationships.

About the Speakers

Dr. Sy Islam is a co-founder and Vice President of Consulting with Talent Metrics and an Associate Professor of Psychology at Farmingdale State College. Dr. Islam has over 15 years of experience providing data analytic, training, and organizational development support to organizations in a variety of workplace settings. Dr. Islam’s consulting work was recognized when he won the Scientist-Practitioner Presidential Recognition Award from the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology for his focus on science driven practices in training, leadership development and talent development. Through Talent Metrics he has consulted with fortune 100 companies like IBM and teams like the Florida Panthers. His books on leadership “Leaders Assemble! Leadership Lessons from the Marvel Cinematic Universe” and “The Elements of Leadership: Leadership Lessons from Avatar the Last Air Bender” were published by Emerald Publishing. His chapter on how to start a boutique consulting firm was published in the ATD Consulting Handbook.

Dr. Mike Chetta is Managing Partner at Talent Metrics Consulting and has been a Human Capital Management consultant for almost 15 years. He completed his Ph.D. in Applied Organizational Psychology from Hofstra University and a Master’s in Business Administration and Management from Dowling College. He is also the Director of the MS in Industrial-Organizational Psychology program at the University of Central Florida (in addition to holding a lecturer position).

In his career, Mike has worked for large Fortune 500 organizations managing client relationships, providing actionable analytics, and impacting the design of global employee surveys. His efforts in corporate centers of excellence directly partnered with senior level executives has ensured alignment of metrics across organizations and geared towards the company’s overall strategy. Mike’s areas of expertise and current research include Artificial Intelligence in selection/assessment, survey design and implementation, employee engagement, customer loyalty, linkage research, and statistical analyses.

Dr. Lorenzo Moultrie, PhD, board-certified coach and behavioral scientist, breaks down DISC. He positions it away from a personality test and toward a precision-coaching methodology, built for practitioners who need more than self-awareness frameworks and good instincts. In 45 minutes, you'll walk through how to read behavioral cues without a formal assessment, understand your own stylistic blind spots as a coach, and match your interventions to what each client's profile actually responds to. This is applied behavioral science, and it's going to change how you show up in your next session.

About the Speaker

Lorenzo Moultrie Jr, PhD, is an industrial and organizational psychologist, leadership development consultant, and behavioral science educator with expertise in leadership, coaching, and organizational effectiveness. He earned his doctorate from Walden University, where his research explored the relationship between coaching psychology and psychological well-being. Dr. Moultrie is also a board-certified coach. In his professional life, he works in the financial industry, focusing on coaching, training and development, and performance improvement through organizational effectiveness and process improvement. His scholarly and professional interests include strengths-based development, applied positive psychology, human behavior, and leadership effectiveness. Dr. Moultrie’s work is grounded in helping people build greater self-awareness, improve communication, and perform at a higher level in their professional lives.
